Attributes of a LEED Project
The project is sited naturally, not on farmland or wetlands, preferrably on previously used land or in an existing high density area.
Any method of transportation other than single occupant cars is encouraged (preferrably not using fossil fuels).
The site and building are designed to use very little water, it uses captured rainwater as best is allowed by law.
The energy consumed by the building is minimal and natural energy is collected for use.
The materials used to build the project are from rapidly renewable source, reused or recycled. The materials are sourced from nearby rather than far away.
The interior environment is free of toxins that off gas from components and furnishings. Fresh air is in abundance. Sunlight is used more than electric lighting. The building is very functional and comfortable to the occupants.
